Correlated disorder in a p-wave superfluid

چکیده
The role of aerogel as a means of introducing correlated disorder into superfluid He is examined in this paper. The aerogel structure is described by a diffusion-limited cluster aggregation model and compared to the results of small-angle x-ray scattering obtained from samples that were used to study the suppression of Tc as well as the development of the superfluid fraction. These results highlight special characteristics of aerogels that make this medium appropriate as a means of introducing disorder into He. We discuss the inapplicability of the Abrikosov-Gorkov model of an impure superconductor to the He-aerogel system, and then detail the behavior of Tc and the superfluid fraction of He contained in three different samples of aerogel. @S0163-1829~99!03621-8#

Stabilization of the p-wave superfluid state in an optical lattice.
It is hard to stabilize the p-wave superfluid state of cold atomic gas in free space due to inelastic collisional losses. We consider the p-wave Feshbach resonance in an optical lattice, and show that it is possible to have a stable p-wave superfluid state where the multiatom collisional loss is suppressed through the quantum Zeno effect. We derive the effective Hamiltonian for this system, and...

Two-dimensional (p(x)+ip(y)) superfluids or superconductors offer a playground for studying intriguing physics such as quantum teleportation, non-Abelian statistics, and topological quantum computation. Creating such a superfluid in cold fermionic atom optical traps using p-wave Feshbach resonance is turning out to be challenging. Here we propose a method to create a p(x)+ip(y) superfluid direc...
متن کاملFour-coloring model and frustrated superfluidity in the diamond lattice.
We propose a novel four-coloring model which describes "frustrated superfluidity" of p-band bosons in the diamond optical lattice. The superfluid phases of the condensate wave functions on the diamond-lattice bonds are mapped to four distinct colors at low temperatures. The fact that a macroscopic number of states satisfy the constraints that four differently colored bonds meet at the same site...

– Motivated by the recent experiment on the Bose-Einstein condensation of Cr atoms with long-range dipolar interactions (Werner J. et al., Phys. Rev. Lett., 94 (2005) 183201), we consider a system of bosons with repulsive nearest and next-nearest neighbor interactions in an optical lattice. The ground state phase diagram, calculated using the Gutzwiller ansatz, shows, apart from the superfluid ...

Motivated by recent experiments on the possible supersolid behavior of 4He solids at low temperature, we consider a model of superfluidity in a defected solid containing a system spanning network of correlated linear dislocations, or planar grain boundaries. Using arguments based on the Harris criterion, as well as numerical simulations, we find that such correlated quenched disorder shifts the...
